I just received this text message on my phone:
"CNGRAT'S!CHRITY FOUNDATION PHI, Ur Sim#is1of our Lucky Wnnr 2day 08Sept./2005 2ndprze wnnr. P750,000psos DTI-NCR-1012 4Dtails call now. Im MR. MANUEL C. TUAZON" - from cell number +63927460XXXX
How did they know my number?
And did I really win???
Read this first.
I didn't bother calling when I noticed these anomalies:
1. The have a badly worded script. (But it's a text message, you say. It's supposed to be text-speak). But then, notice this: they use apostrophes in the wrong places: there should be no apostrophe in "CNGRAT'S", and there should be one in "Im MR. MANUEL C. TUAZON"
2. How do you write down a date? Should it be 08Sept./2005? They could have just written 08Sept'05 or even simply 9/8/05
3. This is redundantly redundant: P750,000psos
Suggestion to Mr. Manuel C. Tuazon, I have this better-worded, more believable script. Use this instead:
"from SCAM FOUNDATION PHILS. CONGRATS! Ur Sim# is 1 of our 2nd prize winners 2day 9/08/05. Prize P750,000. DTI-NCR-1012. Call 4 details. -MR. MANUEL S. TUAZON"
Your new middle initial, the letter "S", stands for "Scammer"
